Some More Recent Goings-On

Part of why the South Dakota trip seemed so long ago is because here is what I have been doing since then:

Tuesday right after the trip, Brian's wife Joy went in for some major surgery. She was released that Friday only to be re-admitted on Sunday. She was in the hospital for 4 more days, and now she is doing much better and starting her 8 week recovery at home.

I worked for 10 straight days starting the Monday we got back.

Last Tuesday I took my 3 nieces to Mammoth Cave, just north of Bowling Green, Kentucky as a before back-to-school trip. I hadn't been there. It was cool-literally, 54 degrees. And it was fascinating. I hope to have some pictures to post soon.

The next day I came down with a stomach virus, the first time I have been sick since moving back to Tennessee. I felt much better on Thursday, just a 24 hour bug.

Friday, Ashley, my mom and I went to a St. Louis Cardinals game with a couple of people from church. It was a church planned weekend trip, but interfered with Tennessee's tax free weekend, so most people already had shopping trips planned. John, the youth minister called me the day before and I had the day off, so why not? The Cardinals lost to the Brewers 4-3, but it was a good game.

oh yea, and some big news in the mist of all that :)

This past Monday I got a call from Parkway Church of Christ in Fulton, KY letting me know that the youth committee suggested that they hire me. I was supposed to meet with them on Wednesday but had to postpone it. It got rescheduled for tonight.

Tonight after evening services at Parkway I met with the elders and the youth deacon and now I will have to change my job title on my profile because I accepted the youth ministry position!!!!!!! I will start in two weeks.

Fulton Kentucky is only 12 minutes away from Martin, which means that I will get to be involved in Ashley's life daily, and she can be a part of my youth group whenever we are doing something. God has provided for me more than I was hoping or anticipating.

So in the next couple of weeks I get to prepare myself to be Parkway's first youth minister, and I have a youth group that is excited to be doing things together, so I get to hit the ground running.

Waiting on God to work has been well worth it, and He has gone beyond what I was hoping for. Hopefully, I can remember this and not fall into the "what have you done for me lately" attitude of the Israelites in the desert, because I can have a tendency to do that. The Lord has come through!! And I know He will continue to.

Congrats on the job, Tim! You've been waiting a long time for this! (Very exciting.)

So.... will you still be taking class in the fall?

CONGRATS!!!!!!! I'm so glad that things worked out for you to live close to home/family still. It's so perfect, and I know there was much praying about it.

I hope it all works out well, that church isn't gonna know what hit them, they'll be so happy. :)

Cheers, Julie

I greatly enjoyed the quizzes, and your entries are some what inspirational and mildly intelligent. Heck I almost enjoyed as much as the quizzes. I am glad to see the strength of your faith sometimes whispering and sometimes screaming “hay look at me!” in your words. My visit to your blog was enjoyable. So thanks Tim, and good luck with the job.
