I wrote this back in high school my sophomore year, and a recent conversation brought it to memory. I have no idea why I still have it memorized, but here it is:
My Almost but Not Completely Unfull Pocket
I was talking to a friend
Had a craving for food
So I said
"Wait a second, dude."
Headed for a stand
That sold hot dogs and beer
But in the way was a band
As the crowd started to cheer
I felt in my pocket
No change went "clank"
So I figured, "Why not?"
I'll go rob a bank"
The bank had been robbed
Just two minutes before
It'd be okay
If I go rob a store
I got to the store
It was owned by a cop
So I dropped my idea
About stealing some pop
Headed back to the game
Thought I might have a mint
I felt nothing in my pocket
But a big piece of lint
"Best piece I've ever seen!"
I thought to myself
So I went home
And put it on my shelf
Everybody could see it
It was out on display
So I went to bed
What a wonderful day!
